Bob, who has joined the BSO Team as the Assistant Area Commissioner (Events), has been involved in Scouting at a local level initially as the QM and then for the last five years as the Group Scout Leader of 1st Hedgerley. Although relatively new to Scouting, Bob is proud of the fact that he was a Cub Scout in the early 1960s in Singapore.
During the five years as GSL, Bob has grown the Group and this year opened a second Beaver Colony. He has fully involved himself in the various sections running some of the evenings as well as attending and in some cases running various camps.
Bob background includes 14 years in the Army where he was an officer, initially in the Royal Corps of Transport followed by 10 years as a helicopter pilot in the Army Air Corps. This logistics and operational experience allowed Bob to have a second successful career in business. During his time in business Bob has worked all over the world both in sales and general management, leading both direct reporting and virtual teams, from many different nationalities.
As well as his Scouting activities, Bob also leads the committee of 656 Squadron Association, the only Army Air Corps squadron with its own veterans organisation, where he is Chairperson and Membership Secretary. He also occasionally works for companies delivering training programmes and facilitating workshops, as Delivery Consultant and Master Trainer for Miller Heiman Group.
