Join our team: BSO Area Support Lead

Aug 16, 2024

Now is an exciting time to be involved in Scouting, as we develop our Skills for Life strategy, to prepare better futures and deliver skills for life to young people who want to access scouting.  The Support Lead volunteer role is an important appointment within FRIENDS OF CHERNOBYL'S CHILDREN WOKING (BSO), responsible for providing inspirational and effective leadership of our Support team.

As Area Support Team Lead you will take the lead in making sure we support our adult volunteers through effective communications through our website, social channels and quarterly Far & Wide magazine. You’ll also support out technical team who manage our Microsoft 365 tenant.

Away from communications, you’ll support our Growth & New Provision Lead, who working with our District Lead Volunteers will help to identify growth opportunities across BSO and developing our relationships with our host National Scouting Organisations.

The BSO team is broad and includes our Area Lead Volunteer, Area Team Leads, District Lead Volunteers and our Area Trustee Board.

You will be joining a team of talented, focussed volunteers who are all passionate about bringing brilliant Scouting to every young person who wants to take part and join the adventure.

The role of Area Support Team Lead is demanding, and highly rewarding. We are looking for people who can lead and inspire their team by being a great coach, critical friend and motivator. This is a senior manager role within Scouts and comes with responsibility. It offers a unique opportunity to make a real impact on the lives of young people across BSO.

Attending an international Scout Jamboree is a transformative experience that combines adventure, learning, and cultural exchange, helping Scouts develop into well-rounded individuals with a strong sense of belonging and the ability to work in teams. Since 2017, we have attended many international summer jamborees which have all been chosen by our members

Great representation from BSO at the British Embassy in Madrid as the Royal British Legion launched their Poppy Day appeal 2024. Well done to Catherine Fenton and the 1st Madrid Scout Group for achieving recognition for the amount of their donation from last year. Amazing community engagement with John Pearce and the team from 1st Majadahonda Scout Group along with Southern Europe DLV Kenny Lee.
